You Can’t Believe Everything You Are Told

After pancakes and hash browns they were going furniture shopping. Well, bed shopping actually. She had been wanting a new bed for a long time. Now was the time to buy. The store was having a huge sale. Everyone who spent a certain amount of money on furniture was getting a new TV.

They finished their ham and eggs and refused a second cup of coffee. They paid the check and went right to the furniture store. They looked at mattresses and box springs. Then she saw it. It was standing there in front of her. It was the most fantastic looking sleigh bed she had ever seen. The carvings were intricate and the wood was soft, gleaming cherry. It was the bed of her dreams.

It wasn’t just any wooden bed, it was carved with curves and swirls on the sides and the headboard and foot-board had a curve that met in the center of each in a fancy carving. It was so perfect that she couldn’t believe her good fortune.

She looked at a few others trying to keep the grin off her face. Did she want the designer name bedding? She spent a few minutes lying on the different mattresses. She and her husband both liked a rather hard mattress. They agreed on the name brand mattress but not the one that was signified to be a designer mattress set.

She pointed over to a twin sleigh bed in the next aisle. She remembered another furniture salesman had told her there were no twin-size ones manufactured. She suspected he wasn’t interested in her business. Maybe she didn’t look like she could afford the expensive bed she was buying today. It was his lost commission she remarked to her amused husband.

She would have to remember to tell the neighbor next door about the good looking loft bed on sale here. They saw it on their way to the front desk. The neighbor wanted one for her young son. He needed more room to set up a racing set in his bedroom.

At this time she was so excited about finding that lovely bed that she forgot all about the free television. But her husband hadn’t. He was as excited about the big screen TV as she was about the bed. They spent about twenty minutes hearing all the details about the different television sets. The high definition was the one they took home.

The TV was in a large cardboard box. The mattress and box spring were protected from dust by plastic. The salesman made out the sales slip and they paid. The cherry bed was in a cardboard box, ready to be assembled at home. After picking up a mounting device that would mount the TV up on a wall at their home. This was one fantastic and successful shopping trip.
