Your Questions About Why Video Conferencing

Paul asks…

Video conferencing between mac and pc?

I have a pc and I am trying to do a video chat with someone who has a mac. I got aim 5.9 because I was using 6.0 and i read that wont work with ichat. that didnt work. i couldnt find any way of inviting anybody to video chat and when i was invited it told the other person that my camera was already in use (but it definitely was not)

so i got trillian pro. it doesnt work either! it tells me trillian was unable to initialize my camera and to go to preferences to make sure my cam is there. it has my hp webcam listed under the camera section in preferences. i dont know why it wont work.

can someone help me figure out one of these programs or tell me what i need to do to use the video chat between a mac and a pc.

John asks…

Why does it matter if ‘they’ (such as the FBI) can keep track of you, such as with the iphone?

I was just reading a story about how the iphone could upgrade to have video conferencing, and some people seem to be concerned about ‘other’s being able to keep track of them, hear their conversations, and know where they are. Does this sound like something to be concerned about? And if so, why should it bother me?

admin answers:

It shouldn’t bother you.

It shouldn’t bother anyone for that matter, so long as we don’t do something stupid.

Only those people need to fear who practice negative uses of & through such items.

William asks…

why do you think technology have evolved in market research?

why have usage of technology such as teleconferencing and video conferencing evolved in focus group research?

admin answers:

Organizing focus group discussions is not easy, especially if your client’s target markets are busy executives or professionals who are not easy to gather in one room in an afternoon.

Teleconferencing and videoconferencing allows the focus group organizer to get as many targeted audience in “one room” without having to require them to be physically present. It is easier to entice participants to joining the focus group if they won’t be required to drive 10 miles to the focus group venue – and just let them participate from the comfort of their homes or offices.

Chris asks…

If our elected officials are really concerned with global warming why don’;t they fly commercial?

It seems unfair that those people in washington preach about protecting the Earth but continue to fly all over the world on military jets instead of commercial transport. They could use video conferencing instead of flying to places like China for photo ops.

admin answers:

Elected officials are good preachers ; that’s all ; in reality they don’t give a dam about global warming ; but they have to please the electorate ; so they say lots of words who mean nothing in their agenda

Michael asks…

Why didn’t the Bush admin and the GOP borrow and spend $4 TRILLION on education and college grants?

Would $4 TRILLION have placed every school online and allowed for video conferencing between classes?

Would $4 TRILLION in GPA based grants in critical fields have made the US even more competitive in the future?

Is war the only priority due to the major profits it creates for corporate backers?

Finally, something I agree with you about Chi Guy!

Well, mostly at least.

Our schools should be palaces of learning. “Teacher” should be a hard degree to acquire and the pay should be six figures! Tenure should be scrapped.

Our children are our promise for the future. Money spent there should be doubled, trippled, or more, but not wasted.

This would of course require a complete revamping of the current system. Throwing money into the current system would be a complete waste. Maybe the voucher system would be best and all schools should be private. Teachers could earn bonuses for a job well done, paid for by the government. Surely a reasonable testing regiment could be established to see how well a teacher has performed?

I’m not suggesting that the military/industrial complex should be dismantled. I believe we will always need a strong national defense, but if I could be convinced that this country was ready to take education seriously, I’d vote for any needed tax increase.

My conservative buddies are going to string me up for this answer. :o )
