Are you thinking of hiring virtual assistant soon? If that is the case, then you have to make sure that you decide on which currency to use in paying your online assistant. For example, it is a bit convenient to pay in Australian dollars today for those online marketers based in Australia, because of the strong currency conversion recently. This is unlike those employers who are paying using US dollars, which has constantly changed values over time.

When looking to hire help complete some SEO services, another couple of areas that you might look at, is looking at local schools. This is more so when I’m hiring people to come into my office. I really do like Mums to come work in my office. They’re very reliable people, they have kids, they might already have gone through working their way up the corporate ladder, they just want a little something on the side to keep themselves busy and active. Mums work really well if you’re looking to hire someone to work in your office. They’re really good.

Sometimes you can pick up people who’ve had corporate experience. They’ve already climbed the corporate ladder, they jumped out because they were having kids but they come with all that pre-training. One of my A players who is one of the ones who has just moved on, she’s gone back to NAB. She was an A player for me and she brought a lot of experience to what it was that we do. She used to take minutes in the meetings that we ran; we never did minutes when we ran our team meetings; she did a whole lot of documentations, system implementation, all that type of thing. So you can find some good opportunities out there, especially if you offer competitive virtual assistant rates in your job ad.

Unis are another good place. I use unis when I’m looking more so for emerging technologies, a person to work on web 2.0 or video, those types of things, that’s when I tend towards unis. Then there is SEEK for everything else. Tips like these are some of the things that I have mentioned in my outsourcing training DVDs.

If I am looking to hire overseas then there’s Jobstreet. Another site to go to is bestjobs.ph, the one owned by John Jonas.

Another two that I’ve had some success with is Remote Staff. They’ve got a US and an Australian based office. What Remote Staff is, they’re recruiters for the Philippines. They will go out and do the whole hiring process for you, just like a normal recruiter would in any sort of local area hiring virtual assistants. I’ve found some fantastic value with that. You give them the job spec, they help refine it for you, they support you as well in that process, go out, do the interview process, select the top three, give you the top three applicants. They go through the whole process for you which is great, it’s only $200. They take care of all the payroll and that sort of thing for you as well.

They’re not an outsource company in that they have people in the office. They don’t have an office in the Philippines that the staff go into but they become the conduit between you and the employee. So they take care of some of the HR management technicalities sort of thing and you have the agreement with them which is really handy, especially for an SEO company like me.

Outsourcers to the Philippines also known as Hubport Interactive does this for you. This is a company based in the Philippines. They will find someone to work for you, but this person will still go to their office and work with a team but this person will just be assigned to work on your projects. This will attract someone who wants to work on this setup and have the feel of a regular office environment as well.

If you are familiar with Tim Ferriss, he mentioned something about outsource companies. He basically refers to those companies that have a project manager to help you find the right people to work on your projects. They have almost everything there, like article writer, web developer, virtual assistant, but they are all working with their company’s clients. What I prefer is the setup where there is a chance to build a relationship with the person working for you, something like that of a dedicated VA.

I have a concern over consistency of results when someone works for me. So that is one of the major considerations I am thinking when I am hiring virtual assistant. I’d rather have a dedicated person to work for me, unlike going through the same situation mentioned by Tim. Anyway, if your VA still wants to maintain an office setup then Outsourcers to the Philippines is the company to help you get your VA soon.
