Your Questions About Website Seo Tools

Lizzie asks…

Is there a way to find out if your website has been blacklisted in search engines?

I would like to know if there is a tool out there that can tell me if I am black listed in the searchengines…especially with respect to Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

admin answers:

If you have the Google tool bar installed…if the bar is gray it is one way. If you type your web adders in Google and it show no results..is another.

Laura asks…

What Questions Should You Be Prepared To Answer When Meeting With An SEO Firm?

A friend of mine is about to sit down with a new SEO company. What questions should he be prepared to answer? I told him to be prepared to answer the following questions in case they ask.
1. What 6 specific keywords are you trying to rank for?
2. What keyword string are you trying to rank for? example: Website Design, Content Management Systems
3. How many years was your domain purchased for? How long have you owned it?
4. Is your website hosted on a linux or windows server?
5. Are you familiar with backlinks? Do you know how to build backlinks?
6. Do you have a Google Webmaster Tools, Yahoo Site Explorer, or Bing Webmaster Center account?
7. Do you have analytics to track visitors?
8. Does your current site have a sitemap.xml or robots.txt?
9. Is your business listed on Yelp?
10. Do you have any PPC or Adword accounts live sending traffic to your website?

admin answers:

A good SEO firm won’t need to ask many of the questions that you listed. They’ll run a quick audit of the site before they ever even talk to your friend.

For example:
1. They can ask if there are keywords that they are trying to rank for, but a good SEO firm will do the keyword research, not expect your friend to do it. Keyword research is the SEO’s job, not the client’s.
2. See number 1.
3. 5 seconds on http://www.domaintools.com/ will answer this question.
4. Could be relevant, but definitely not a huge concern from an SEO standpoint.
5. A good SEO firm will explain any lingo they use.
6. Good question.
7. Good question.
8. It takes 5 seconds for an SEO firm to check this manually. The existence of these files is not enough. The contents of these files needs to be verified.
9. It’s good to be listed on Yelp, but that’s just one of many sites that should be linking back to the client’s site. A good SEO firm should have tools that check backlinks for them. They shouldn’t have to rely on a client’s answer.
10. Good to know, but not necessary to perform SEO.

If an SEO firm asks your friend any questions that he doesn’t know the answer to, then they should be able to explain in simple terms what they are looking for, and help him find the answers.

Mandy asks…

Has anyone here used “Scrub The Web” for SEO? Or is there a BETTER company?

I’m seriously thinking about signing up with Scrub the Web dot com for some SEO tips and they also say they can do lots of things. Here’s one that fascinates me (a line from their site):
“(X)HTML Validator™ and Correction Tool – make your Web pages error free! The first SEO inspired (X)HTML validation tool on the Internet. This tool will make every attempt possible to correct (X)HTML errors in your Web page’s (X)HTML source that can affect your search engine visibility.”

I don’t know much about .html, unfortunately, and my little do-it-yourself website has some errors in my source code, apparently…at least according to this free scan I ran on my site. It says I have 31 errors in my site! So I’m thinking OMG! You can see them here:

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://landinarizona.net

Could anyone that knows what they’re doing at least tell me if this is something I need to WORRY ABOUT? Everything seems to “look okay” to ME on my site… and I know for sure all the links on it are good. But are these other things listed there bad enough that you think I should do something about them? Could they themselves be hindering my ranking?

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your educated opinion…(said ahead of time to whoever answers that HAS an educated opinion! LOL!) Tell me just how educated IS your educated opinion when you answer, please.
That’s right! Blow your own horn! THANKS AGAIN!

admin answers:

I don’t have any personal experience with scrub, but I am an SEO consultant – http://kercommunications.com/internet-marketing/seo/
Many of the SEO tips sites do offer good advice, but they usually are steering you toward a pricey contract with them. SEO can be done DIY, but it can be very time consuming and the trial and error process can be frustrating and you would probably be better off consulting a professional. I would also recommend that you find an SEO consultant rather than going to the tips sites so you can get more personalized advice. Consultants can also seem expensive, but the return on investment is usually very good and it frees up your time to concentrate on building or improving other aspects of your business.

As far as xhtml validation goes – this is a tricky area because you do want to make sure your site is set up in a way that will not weigh down your search engine results. However, it seems to be increasingly difficult to maintain w3 compliance. Try to fix as many of the flagged items as you can but don’t lose sleep over it if you only have a few problems and they are related to features you can’t do without – like certain plugins or widgets that are not compliant, but serve an important purpose on your site. Like almost everything else related to SEO, the importance of W3C compliance is debatable. I try to err on the side of caution and keep everything xhtml valid whenever possible.

More important things to concentrate on when doing your own SEO would be the title tag, overall usability and navigation, canonical issues, sitemap.xml, heading tags (H1, H2, H3 etc), and making sure your keyword usage is just right – not “stuffed” but still using the important phrases.

Hope this helps.

George asks…

Can anyone suggest any SEO tips?

Hi there :-)

I’ve recently pieced together a website for a dear friend of mine who has recently qualified as a baby massage teacher. I was wondering if anyone could have a look at the website and tell me what I can do to get better search engine results – if you want to take a look the site is www.blissfulbambinos.co.uk

Someone suggested to me that I add the website in Google web master tools but it doesn’t seem to be doing a lot.

I really appreciate your time. Cheers and have a merry christmas!
Looks fake? How so, may I ask?

admin answers:

A single or one time promotion can’t bring promotion to your site in Search engines. Only continue and genuine promotion will give more effective. Do the following promotion as one by one continuously,

* Directory Submission:
Submit your website url to good and high pr website directories

* Article Submission:
Write article about your site and distributed to article directories

* Social Bookmarking:
Bookmark your website pages to social bookmarking sites

* Social Media Promotion
Write about you website services in blogs, forums, twitter, facebook and other social media and social networking sites

* Press Release distribution
Write press release about the news and events about your site and distributed it to press release directories.

* Also you can create ebooks, documents and shared it to document sharing sites.

You can get all the above promotion directory lists by searching through internet. If you feel any difficulties you can hire a SEO company. Before hiring a company please note that they are genuine and do our job as successful Because nowadays there are lot of scam companies(single man team) saying we have 50 peoples working for past 7 years.

All the best for your website promotion. Wish you a Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.

My site has not yet been “crawled” by Google?

I have a site that I have set up for a company and have gone the distance with search engine optimization as far as Google is concerned. I have properly set up my robots.txt directive so it can be easily found, etc. However within Google accounts ‘webmaster tools‘ no data is available on this particular site. And it has been almost a month since this attempted SEO. Any help or insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

    admin answers:

Be sure to submit a sitemap to Google via Google Webmaster Tools. Also, be sure to check the ‘Diagnostics’ section of Webmaster Tools to check for any problems that Google is having while crawling your site.

Recently, Google has gotten much faster at indexing new websites. I’ve seen several sites get indexed within 3 days of creation when a sitemap has been submitted via Webmaster Tools. If it’s been a month and your site hasn’t been indexed yet, something is wrong.

Using Webmaster Tools, you can check your robots.txt file to see if you are inadvertently blocking Google from indexing the site. Go to ‘Site Configuration’ and then ‘Crawler access’. See http://www.robotstxtfile.com/ for proper examples of robots.txt files.

When all else fails, get good quality links from sites that are indexed by Google. Links are the currency of SEO.

Is there any free keywords research tool available?

hey guys if you are in SEO must be knowing if there is any free keywords research tool and keyword rank chcker tool available other then Google keyword tool. Please let me if there is any. Required little bit urgently.

    admin answers:

    - Keyword discovery
    - SEM Rush
    - Wordtracker
    - Word mixer
    - Yandex Wordstat (English version – wordstat.yandex.com)
    - Related searches in Bing, Yahoo and Google are great for keyword insights
    - Google Autocomplete feature also helps with finding keywords frequently searched for

These are great for insights/keyword brainstorming. For a more thorough keyword research analysis of competition and search volumes and SEO profitability ratio calculations, look into Rank Tracker free version (there is a paid one too but the free one just fine for keyword purposes, the tool is part of seo powersuite).

    Some other things to consider:

    - misspelled versions of your keyword (really depends on your niche but works very well in certain niches)
    - analyze your traffic logs and Google Analytics traffic stats – very good keyword insights there specifically for your site.

You can then analyze those keywords with Rank Tracker, come up with more SEO-valuable keywords if need be and then connect your Google Analytics account with Rank Tracker to monitor how much traffic each keyword brings + check your organic and universal search rankings in 750 SE’s.

    Question for SEO experts?

    Hi,
I’m running an online business, and I get pretty great income. Now I want to take a dive into SEO. Of course I can get a lot of help online, but I want an expert’s advice on how to start with it, and what exactly to do.
I am expert in on-page SEO, but I want more info on off-page SEO and social bookmarking.
Also, please let me know if there are some free tools to help me with that (I’m aware of Google Adwords Keyword tool only). I need someone to guide me. I’ll be really grateful if I get some tips from the pros.
    Thanks!

When attaining backlinks (links to your website from other websites) it’s important to focus on websites with high pageranks. Even if a website links to you and you’re the only one they link to, if no one links to that website it’s useless.

Alexa.com offers one of the most effective ways of getting link juice. Enter some of your competitor’s websites into alexa.com and click sites linking in. You can see where they get most of their traffic, where they advertise, etc. It’s a very simple, yet effective way of finding ways to get targeted traf

Another effective way of attaining targeted backlinks is to find websites of the same topic as your own that aren’t direct competitors. For example: If you run a petstore, find a website talking about caring for pets that has a links page, and ask to be included in those links.

I’ve also listed some more generic websites designed to help websites like yours attain a higher pagerank.

Aboutus.org is a wiki to websites, allowing you to write an article about your website. If you write a professional sounding article, you can email them and get the “nofollow” tags removed, allowing Google to see you’re linked to from them. Http://www.aboutus.org/ProFollow

Joeant.com is a directory of websites, primarily shopping related. You can choose exactly the right section for your website to be added to, and get targeted visitors. Adding your url is only $40, or, if you choose, you can volunteer to become an editor of a category, and attempt to add your website for free. Doing it the free way doesn’t guarantee acceptance, and delays the date of your website being added.

Dir.Yahoo.com is another directory of websites. This one has a much higher rate of visitation than any other, but is relatively expensive at $300 per year to list.

Stumbleupon.com, delicious.com, and mixx.com are all social bookmarking websites in which you can submit websites for others to comment on, and vote on. Digg.com is for uploading news stories, and is a very similar concept.

I hope this helps. If it does, please vote for this answer.

Awesome Thoughts On The Key Reason Why You Should Ask An SEO Company Just What Google Is Trying To Do

I guess the realm of search engine optimisation is resigned to acknowledging its standing as a host to general frustration. Unquestionably, it was underlined when Google injected some ultimate bafflement by following up its recent +1 principle with a logical + project. Exactly; what?

The “+1” button is actually just a little device that Google puts alongside links and information shown on websites, with the goal of getting you to click the button to signify that you essentially like the product in question. Thus you are adding a single vote to that particular site’s tally of votes; get it – “+1”? It is truly not all that intuitive, but often Google is that way.

Right after launching this idea the boffins in their California HQ developed Google+ which is something really different, being their reply to the Facebook online community in many respects. So many people who’re not “into” search engine optimisation or who do not work for an SEO company, per se look at the two things and simply scratch their heads. Are they connected, or are there way too many “+” icons flying about?

From everything we can deduce, Google is going to use the information they gather when people click that “+1” button to enable them to supply relevance along with a better experience for searchers. They’re also going to use data they gather when people interact with their fresh social networking platform, to give them a much clearer indication of the way we all act and what we essentially want.

For the inexperienced it may certainly be really perplexing – it is even quite confusing for those who may work for any SEO company full-time. Nevertheless, it just demonstrates that when looking at website design and SEO, almost any organisation that wants to succeed in the foreseeable future with their Internet marketing and online activities must check with professionals to determine exactly how many “+” ideas Google has been able to dream up these days!
