When I had just one website, I used to monitor my positions and check competitors back links with in-built search engine plug ins. I summarized results with plain spreadsheets.

I do miss those days. “A pen and paper” is far more than what I need as a website promoter with 50+ websites now.

As I do SEO for myself, I don’t think I need reports – I just make use of increasing number of tools, learn new techniques.

But if you do SEO for other people, look into powersuite reporting – it looks promising.

Which is the better SEO software?

I need to buy a SEO Software program. Web CEO has a special ending tonight to buy the professional version for $250. SEO Elite has a ton of testimonials but looks more like a link anaylazer than a well rounded SEO tool. I am also considering SEO suite. I would love to buy IBP but can only afford the 249 on which is limited in comparison to the professional Web Ceo. SO which on one is the best? Any examples would be helpful. Thanks

Hi,

I have SEO Elite and the free version of Web CEO. I have tried the trial version of IBP but returned it as it didnt tell me anything I didnt already know, and it was mega expensive. Both are ok, but they are only research tools. Are you wanting the software to analyse the competition or do you want to learn how to get top rankings for your pages.

Go to http://www.squidoo.com/affiliate_marketing_training and take a look. This guy is doing an experiment on how long it takes to get a page into the top ten rankings of google. He is videoing the experiment. On his first test it took him under 48 hours to get his page to #1 place in Google. No normally you would say that he is faking it but that is why he is doing the videos.

The test started on 20/02/08 so the results arent in yet.

I like the tools but I want to know the secrets on how to achieve the results.

What is the best way to do SEO for your website online?

All these cruddy websites spam you with the fact that they supposedly have the “best capability to get you noticed online” or use CPC or CPM. Well, I don’t have an endless amount of moo-lah as most people can say about themselves as well. I don’t want to purchase any ILLEGAL boosting software that will hurt my ranking or get me banned from google. Does anyone know of a way to bump up your Google and Yahoo rankings? (since it is so hard to get your site noticed unless you are a huge firm, celebrity, or have tons of cash?)

I have tried: Good Keywords (used key word creation tools, didn’t work), twitter, facebook, myspace (back in the day), CPC or CPM (too expensive on a limited budget), google adwords, yahoo advertising, online classified ad’s, tried social bookmarking (de.li.ci.ous, stumbleupon, folkd, etc.), Youtube (using good keywords/tags and putting it in a good category), Affiliate Marketing, and many more ways.

This would be for an online only service, not a local service or small business.

Is there really any way a person’s/people’s website can get noticed these days w/o putting much more into it than your Return on Investment will be worth?

(Any LEGAL software to use?)

I need help..I have a digital content download site and my monthly fees are accumulating faster than ever. They will cost so much more than my ROI on my downloads, sheesh, any ideas guys?

I agree to some extent with Constant Strategies answer.

You have got to get your own website right first before all the off-site stuff you are talking about in your question (CPC, CPM, etc.)

Have a look at this page which shows over 20 things to do on your own site before you start thinking about doing things on Twitter, etc.

Now if you Google ‘How to SEO your website’ you’ll see this site in the top 10 – and that is without any of the things you have mentioned in your question – no twitter, no adwords, no social bookmarking (as of the date of this answer!).

SEO Performance Tracking, What’s the Best Way to Measure Results?

Hi there, I have a burning question and I thought this would be a great place to ask it.

Does such a tool exist that you give it a set of search terms and then it checks where you are ranking for those terms–preferably over time.

For me, “paris hotels” is an important search term, as is “paris hotel”, hotel paris, hotels paris and to a lesser extent hotels in paris and hotel in paris.

You can basically multiply those search terms by x number of cities and you’ve got my company’s bread & butter.

I want to hire a few people to do seo, and i want to monitor their performance on a daily basis. So I would like to give each of them 5 cities (multiplied by the 4 search terms above) then plot where we are ranking for all those permutations on a daily basis, to see who’s performing best, and how quickly they can produce results etc.

Is there software that can do that? What is the best way to achieve this?

The first answerer misunderstood my request. To clarify I am looking for a tool that can help me to measure or audit the ranking of certain URLs for certain keywords.

I dont think that is is possible to do what you are asking and i will tell you why I think you need marketing help.

S.E.O. Is a way of programming your site to be search engine friendly has little to do with search engine results other than it is easier for the search engine to find the information.

As far as high rank that is achieved by how many times your URL is being referenced i.e. Back links message boards and blogs

If you want someone to sell you a new website that wont do a whole lot for you get SEO if you want to improve traffic and page rank get marketing..
